Less than two months from Christmas, the season of events has already begun. Day in and day out, Madrid dresses up to host big premieres, luxury dinners, and essential cocktails. On the night of October 30, one of them took place, at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in the capital, whose incentive was to unite two stimulating worlds, that of fashion and that of art. Which, in fact, always touch each other, since high fashion is, in fact, still culture. And a house like Carolina Herrera, undeniably, evokes high fashion. On this occasion, the brand invited a good number of authorities, VIPs and specialized journalists to celebrate its sponsorship of the Ancient and Modern Masters exhibition, which the aforementioned museum will host until February 4 of next year. The extensive exhibition (which includes almost a hundred pieces including paintings, sculptures, works on paper and textiles) serves to make clear the brand’s commitment to female culture and talent. Thus, all the works are signed by women who are recognized again today, such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Angelica Kauffman, Mary Cassatt, María Blanchard, Sonia Delaunay or the Spanish surrealist Maruja Mallo. Coherently, its commissioner is a woman, Rocío de la Villa, who has worked from a feminist perspective, to explore history through these artists, from the end of the Renaissance to the first decades of the last century. “Since my mother founded her fashion house in 1981, Carolina Herrera has been and continues to be a company that revolves around women, their innate creativity and the courage necessary to break stereotypes and find their own path,” Explain Carolina A. Herrera, creative director of Carolina Herrera Beauty (she joined the company founded by her legendary designer mother in 1996, for the launch of the 212 fragrance). “This exhibition tells a story of audacity, difficulties and talent, and it makes me very happy to be part of it,” she concedes. Carolina A herself.

Isabel Preysler and her daughter Tamara Falcó dazzled among the many guests at the inauguration Juanjo Martín Efe.

Herrera displayed her sympathy with the guests, as is the norm for her impeccably dressed in a black beaded suit, alongside the current creative director of the brand, the American Wes Gordon, who already arrived in Madrid last fall and confessed to us that he was in love with the city. During the preview tour of the exhibition, the designer chatted animatedly with several guests, such as Isabel Preysler, with a flowered pantsuit, and the recent marriage formed by his daughter Tamara Falco (very pretty, with a sequin look) and Inigo Onieva; Let us remember that Gordon, from the signature, was the author of her wedding dress. Amparo Corsini either Eugenia Martínez de Irujo. Also, obviously, they received, Borja Thyssen and his wife, Blanca Cuesta, to an eclectic cast largely graced by Carolina Herrera. There were models like Blanca Padilla or Esther Cañadas,; the tennis player Garbine Muguruza, recently awarded at the Woman Sport Awards, by Prensa Ibérica; leading interpreters such as Anna Castilloone of the best actresses of her generation or designers like Gala Gonzalez either Juan Avellaneda. And, to top off the evening, a private performance by Ana Torroja. What I said: essential.
