Meloni rolls out the red carpet to show off his plan against illegal immigration. On Monday it was the British Prime Minister’s turn; today it is Feijóo’s turn. A strategy that has reduced the number of immigrants arriving by 60%. The how does not matter so much, but the results, because the first thing for Italy is to keep the country clean. Immigrants rescued at sea are taken to Albania while their files are processed. They arrive at places like a detention centre. A super complex where Albania does not assume costs, Meloni finances it and it is managed by Italian personnel. Italy has also signed multi-million dollar agreements with Libya and Tunisia to close the way for them. And all with the approval of the European Union. Ursula von der Leyen and Meloni promised Tunisia an unprecedented financial rescue in exchange for protecting its borders. The plan is rounded off with the harassment of NGOs. It consists, nothing more and nothing less, than making their lives impossible, with rescue rules that make them waste time and money; humanitarian ships confiscated and sanctioned. Something that, they claim, could violate the international law of assistance at sea.
