The trial in Avignon in the case of Dominique Pelicot, the husband who for years drugged his wife so that she could be raped by dozens of men, was suspended shortly after it began so that a medical team could be set up to inform the court of the real state of health of the main defendant, who is absent due to illness.
Roger Arata, president of the Vaucluse Criminal Court (south-east of France), has announced this suspension for an uncertain period, expected to last several hours, in order to first meet with the lawyers and appoint the experts who will have to determine whether Dominique Pelicot can attend the trial in the coming days.
