The subwaywith its lonely platforms at night, its tunnels and outbuildings that no one has set foot on for decades, is a A very appropriate space for horror or mystery stories. Between the two concepts, horror and intrigue, is installed ‘Rocafort Station’a movie curious in its approach, but limited in its results.
The argument starts from the urban legend according to which this Barcelona metro station corresponding to the Line 1the red one –although in the film it becomes the Line 4the yellow one, perhaps to eradicate any veristic approach–, has historically been the place chosen by many suicides.
From this premise, that of people who throw themselves onto the subway tracks to end their existence, the scriptwriters weave a plot starring a young girl who has visions related to the subway and its victims, and a hardened and alcoholic ex-police inspector whose career went down the drain when he tried to save a family kidnapped by a madman.
The director Luis Prieto does not really take advantage of the tunnels and labyrinths of the subway in this one, in the end, simple ghost story which is oriented towards a confusing explanation linked to legends and exorcisms in Mexico. More sympathetic than virtuous, more topical than disturbing.
