He Citizen Movement Council (MC) agreed in the plenary session held last Wednesday to make a call to participate in the events of the 25N in Cordova in the fight against gender violence. In this regard, the CMC recalls in a press release that “the Córdoba platform against violence against women, together with the feminist movement, has achieved throughout its journey (26 years) that the sexist violenceas a social problem.” From there, adds the CMC, “it has been possible for laws to be carried out, a State Pact to be signed, and resources to be allocated to investigate it; as well as raising awareness among citizens and protecting the victims and their sons and daughters.”
For the Citizen Movement, “despite this, there is still much to do, taking into account that from November 2022 to today, 75 women have been murdered at the hands of their ex-partners or partners and the concern about violence sexism in youth”. For this reason, the CMC has agreed to request from the different administrations “an increase in resources of all kinds in the fight against this evil that devastates our society.”
The Council of the Citizen Movement considers “that we should not focus only on the different opinions, desires and beliefs that appear on the public scene, but therefore, we should focus on the causes and consequences of the sexist violence“Yes, that’s true, we want to eradicate them.”
“The sexist violence that women suffer must hurt us all,” says the CMC, “so denying it, minimizing it or justifying it does a disservice to the victims and to society as a whole.”
From the Citizen Movement Council“we condemn all types of sexist violence, we reject those who are complicit in it and we show our support for the victims and the groups that fight with this social scourge.”
For this reason, the CMC calls on all citizens of Córdoba to participate in the demonstration this Saturday, November 25, International Day for the Eradication of Sexist Violence, which will leave from the old courts at 5:30 p.m.
