Not even 24 hours have passed since the Murcia City Council ordered the immediate sealing of nightlife venues with termination orders of activity. Around 9:00 p.m. the Local Police proceeded to seal the concert hall. Spectrum, since its license was not current. Meanwhile, another police device has sealed off the Golden nightclub, the third establishment affected by the fire that claimed thirteen victims last Sunday, for not complying with a closing order of the Consistory.
In a press conference early in the morning, the City Council assured that it had already detected other large leisure venues, similar to those injured in the firewith unexecuted cease-and-desist orders.
The vice mayor and councilor of Public Works, Rebeca Pérez, could not specify how many establishments are in this situation, but reported that reviews and inspections are already being carried out, in a first phase, in the leisure areas of Mariano Rojas and Atalayas. Inspectors are checking that nightclubs that were ordered to close have complied with the mandate. Otherwisethey will proceed to their immediate seal.
“We have had to prioritize with a screening with two criteria: geographical location and areas with the greatest concentration of nightlife venues, and volume of traffic, those with the greatest capacity.
