The UCO and Navantia create the ‘Navantia DeepTech’ Chair with the Logistics Base as its objective

The University of Cordoba (UCO) and Navantiaa public company dedicated to civil and military naval construction, have reached an agreement for the creation of the Chair Navantia DeepTechwhich will be dedicated to various development projects within the framework of military research, mainly, and that will have influence on the Army Logistics Base (BLET) General Varela.

Navantia is not exclusively dedicated to shipbuilding, but is also involved in the development of radar technology that is installed on all types of vehicles and platforms, as well as in the predictive maintenance of said vehicles and platforms, for which it works in different defense projects. Navantia is an international reference company in the design, construction and maintenance of high-tech vessels and in systems integration, as well as in the digitization of its production processes and the use and integration of new technologies from the genesis of the products to the end of their life cycle. And it is also a reference in the application of artificial intelligence in technological programs such as MAPRE for the Navy.

In fact, last March, both Navantia and the UCO have already signed an agreement to work together on artificial intelligence projects applied to the BLET General Varela.

That agreement had the objective of strengthening the collaboration between the University of Córdoba and Navantia, based on the joint work developed to present a value proposal to the army’s predictive logistics program. (Silpre).

The rector of the UCO, Manuel Torralbo, then indicated that agreements like that “are crucial to reinforce the strategic mission of the UCO of contributing with knowledge to the socioeconomic development of the province of Córdoba.” In this sense, “collaboration with a leading company in the Defense sector such as Navantia reaffirms the commitment of the University of Córdoba to the Army Logistics Base project and will enable the UCO to improve its contributions to the Silpre program. ”.

“With this agreement we put our capabilities at the service of our Armed Forces and underline the importance of collaboration between industry and academia to create strategic and valuable projects,” said the president of Navantia, Ricardo Domínguez.

The UCO has extensive research experience in different technologies applied to the military industry, such as predictive maintenance projects that are expected to be included in the Silpre system, which aims to be the Army’s comprehensive predictive logistics platform, vehicle electrification, use of plasma technologies for NBC decontamination or energy-related projects, in which is currently being worked on.

On the other hand, the VII Technological Workshop on the Logistics Base of the General Varela Army will be held in Córdoba next Tuesday, October the 17th. It will not be the first to host the UCO facilities and once again the Rectorate will be the center of information and news about the Córdoba military installation.
