Twelve people have drowned trying to reach food packages dropped by plane onto a Gaza beach. The need is so great that many people jump into the sea, even without knowing how to swim, to collect them and be able to get food for their families. It is not the first incident of its kind during aid deliveries in the small, overcrowded Palestinian enclave. The situation is so desperate that some people forage for weeds to eat and bake barely edible bread with animal feed.
