The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, was forceful this Tuesday regarding the controversy that accompanies the PP since this past weekend, in which sources from the party leadership acknowledged having Carles Puigdemont’s amnesty proposal analyzed for 24 hours and they hinted that they would study a pardon if the Junts leader submitted first to Spanish justice and abjured unilateralism. Ayusoafter having shown its resounding support for Feijóo on Monday, today rejected the possibility of forgiving the sentences under any circumstances: “You should never pardon anyone who has committed serious crimes”.

The Madrid leader repeated on Monday, as on other occasions, that with Junts you are not going “anywhere”, and only noted that the pardon would be possible if “a scenario Z” was reached, which is still very far away. He in turn insisted that there was no change in Genoa’s position regarding the independence movement. But this Tuesday his response to the media qualified even that scenario. “I believe that we are not the ones who should be talking about condonations, It is the Spanish justice system that decides who has to serve sentences or others”, he pointed out, and then concluded: “That thing about us politicians starting to forgive our debts and penalties seems horrifying to me, so I don’t want to go there, I just don’t see it, I don’t contemplate it.”
