More than 429.8 million passengers used the public transport in Spain last December, 12% more than in the same month of 2022.
Urban transportation increasedn 15.4% in annual rate, while the interurban did 9.5%. Within the intercity, the 15.6% increase in bus transportation stood out.
Urban transport was used by more than 272.5 million travelers in December, 15.4% more than in the same month of 2022.

The air falls in December
As far as intercity transport is concerned, more than 122.7 million travelers chose this modality in Decemberwhich represented an increase of 9.5% compared to the same month in 2022.

According to data from the statistical institute, a total of 34.5 million users used special and discretionary transport in Spain last December, which represented a decrease of 2.9% in the annual rate.

Growth in all communities

For their part, Galicia (6.5%), the Basque Country (8.4%) and Catalonia (14.5%) registered the smallest increases in bus transportation, according to INE data.
Metro transportation increased in all cities that have this type of transportation compared to the same month of the previous year. The Málaga metro presented the greatest increase, of 139.4%, and the Bilbao metro the smallest, of 9.1%.
