A book collects the artistic history of Córdoba and the Círculo de la Amistad from 1854 to 1936

He Royal Circle of Friendshipwith the financing of Imdeechas brought to light the book ‘The plastic arts in Cordova. A walk through the galleries of the Círculo de la Amistad (1854-1936)’ (Almuzara). The edition includes the artistic history of the entitythrough the repóker referential creators of the Círculo such as José María Rodríguez de los Ríos Losada, José Fernández Alvarado, Mateo Inurria, Ángel Díaz Huertas and Julio Romero de Torres.

This work also includes the Individual expositions held at its headquarters from its foundation in 1854 to 1936. We quote those of Manuel León Astruc, Rafael Botí, Adolfo Lozano Sidro, Ángel López-Obrero, Rafael Cuenca Muñoz, Wynne Apperley, among others. Likewise, there are the collectives and artistic competitions held in its galleries, some organized exclusively by the entity itself, such as the original one in 1868 and, in other cases, such as the remembered Floral Games, together with other prominent Córdoba institutions, such as such as the Academy, the City Council and the Economic Society of Friends of the Country. On other occasions, the Circle was the host of important events and competitions of great repercussion in the city and outside it, such as the literary and artistic contests of 1890, 1892, 1895 and 1923 promoted by the aforementioned Economic Society; the artistic, industrial and agricultural exhibition of 1892 and the exhibition of guadamecíes and cordobanes of 1924 organized by the municipal corporation; as well as others from the Ateneo and those from the Cordoban Society of Archeology and Excursions in their editions from 1922 to 1928.

As epiloguethe book contains more than one hundred biographical references of all those artists who, in one way or another, participated in those artistic competitions. Artists of the caliber of Francisco Alcántara, Luis Bertodano, Antonio Cánovas del Castillo Kaulak, José Fernández Márquez, Rafael García Guijo, Juan Cristóbal González Quesada, Miguel Latas, Enrique Moreno Rodríguez El Fenómeno, Tomás Muñoz LucenaMaría Luisa Pérez Herrero, Rafael Romero Barros, Enrique and Rafael Romero de Torres, Rafael García Guijo, Ezequiel Ruiz Martínez, José Saló and Quintín de Torre, among others.
