Netflix sets a release date for ‘The Asunta Case’ and shares a preview of the series

‘The Asunta case’ It already has a release date in Netflix. On April 26, the platform will premiere the miniseries produced by Bambú (‘Fariña’), based on the murder of little Asunta Basterra in 2013.

The series about the media crime has Candela Peña and Tristán Ulloa in the roles of Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra, the girl’s parents. Completing the cast are Javier Gutiérrez, María León and Carlos Blanco, among others.

Netflix has revealed the release date through a clip that recreates the famous interview that Porto and Basterra gave explaining the adoption process of little Asunta.

Created by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira, Jon de la Cuesta and David Orea, The series consists of six episodes and it has been filmed in locations in Galicia.

Campos, who is also the executive producer of the series, was already at the helm of ‘What the truth hides: the Asunta casea four-episode documentary series about the same case that aired on Antena 3. A few months ago it was announced that the series will feature “a lot of material” collected during the investigation process that, ultimately, could not be included in the aforementioned docuseries.

Synopsis of the series

On September 21, 2013, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra reported the disappearance of their daughter Asunta, whose body was found hours later next to a road on the outskirts of Santiago de Compostela. The police investigation soon reveals evidence that points to Rosario and Alfonso as possible perpetrators of the crime. The news shocks the entire city and even the country. What can lead parents to end their daughter’s life? What is hidden behind that facade of a perfect family?
